August 19, 2017 | Hale Koa Hotel, Hawaii
I first met Noryn in 2013 when she was the Maid of Honor for her best friend, Lynssey's wedding. I remember her as this outgoing, funny and free-spirit person. I received an email in January of 2016 and to my surprise it was Noryn. She emailed to say that she is now living in California and is engaged to be married and wanted to hire my services for her upcoming wedding in Hawaii.
Their vision was to have a simple wedding and nothing extravagant. The ceremony was going to be at the Maile Garden but rather than using the gazebo for their backdrop, the couple chose to change it up a bit and use the Banyan tree as their backdrop instead. They wanted something different, plus, the Banyan tree would provide shade for their guests at this time in the morning. The aisle was lined with Maile lei on the chairs and at the end of the aisle, laid on the grass were white flower petals in the shape of a heart.
Prior to the ceremony, we spent some time capturing details during the bride and groom prep.
Kyle and Noryn wanted to see each other so they did a 1st look at the Maile Lawn along with a father/daughter 1st look. Pictures of the family, bridal party and the couples formal portraits shortly ensued and then we were off to see the lovely couple get married. Did I mention these two were goofballs? LOL!
The ceremony was kept short and sweet so that the newlyweds could spend the rest of the morning with their guests at the DeRussy Hall where the wedding reception was held. The speeches and toasts were filled with lots of laughter while the couples first dance and parent dances were emotionally touching. Kyle and Noryn ended the reception with a genuine thank you speech. Congratulations to an awesome couple!
